We are often asked how to care for and clean our sheepskin products.
There is no one product that handles all sheepskin products.
Most commercial cleaners are too harsh for the leather uppers of our sheepskin shoes and the inner sheepskin lining.
In order to water proof your sheepskin shoes or slippers we recommend that you purchase a good quality suede water proofer that will help protect any shoes worn outside from getting wet as well as helping to prevent most stains. Suede water proofers can be purchased wherever shoe products are sold.
To clean the inside of your sheepskin shoes or slippers you would wet the inside of your shoe or boot with a damp sponge with as little water as possible and then apply a small amount of soap or shampoo (such as woolite) to a sponge and then use a clean damp sponge to take out any soap residue. You can also vacuum the inside of you sheepskin shoes or slippers to help keep them clean.
If your boots are wet due to cleaning or outside use let them dry in a cool dry place. Do not dry them in direct heat or sunlight as this will cause shrinkage.
You can also purchase a suede cleaner for your sheepskin shoes which is sold where shoe products are sold and this can be used to clean the outside of your sheepskin shoes or slippers.
If you get a food or grease stain on the outside of your shoe try rubbing some white chalk (used on blackboards) on the stain. Let it absorb the stain for 30-60 minutes. Dust the chalk off and try again. This can often remove the stain or make it much less.
